How to install sqlite in redhat 9 with php rpm?

Dear all,
I cant install the sqlite package in redhat 9 with original php rpm. here is
the message i got:
[root@localhost root]# pear install SQLite-1.0.tgz

configure: error: cannot find sources (Makefile.in) in
