Hello all,
After days of working i'm proud to announce a new major version for
HTML_Progress.
If you don't know what make this package, have a look here :
http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_Progress
and also on my server project page
http://pear.laurent-laville.org/HTML/Progress/
Current version is 0.6.2, and soon you'll have a fresh 1.0 version
I was happy to produce a such package in past, but some details make me sad.
I wanted this package
to be better and with some news features i haven't time to put in previous
version.
All API have changed and there are no compatibility with 0.6.2 sorry (but
you'll understand why)
So here are the changes since 0.6.2:
- back to compatibility with PHP 4.2.x (minimal)
- HTML_Page package is no more necessary to produce pages with ProgressBar.
You are free to put a progress in all your existing pages (templates) as
any other HTML element.
- HTML_CSS package becomes optional and is required only for facility to
produce
Progress StyleSheet.
- CSS id and class selectors are customizable.
- ProgressMaker got some pre-sets UI models as example.
- Errors are managed by Error_Raise package (by Greg Beaver). Hope it'll
become a standard
Have a look here : http://www.chiaraquartet.net/apidoc/ and see nice
work of Greg !
- added PHPunit tests with same skin (coolest HTML output) as used in CVS
for package :
HTML_CSS, PEAR_PackageFileManager
Now the feature additions:
- HTML_Progress now implements a Observer design pattern. It is possible to
add Listeners.
- HTML_Progress now adds a customizable UI monitor pattern to display a
progress bar.
User-end can abort progress at any time.
use optionals package HTML_QuickForm and HTML_QuickForm_Controller
- Look and feel can be sets by internal API or an external config file.
use optional Config package http://pear.php.net/package/Config of Bertrand
Mansion
- Allows many progress bar on same page without uses of iframe solution.
Even if it's optional, it's recommend to install also HTML_CSS package
http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_CSS of Klaus
Guenther.
I used his package HTML_Page only for ProgressMaker and in a single
example script.
ToDo List :
- Lot of test on different platform with many browsers
- Make a cool tutorial included with API docs (same as in Error_Raise
package by Greg)
Without guaranty that working with your own config, you can have a look on
new examples
here :
http://pear.laurent-laville.org/dev/examples/
(the link will change as soon as i'll publish a public and final release)
I'll produce a PEAR ready to install package this evening : a 1.0RC1 in beta
stage
and i'll put it on my website at :
http://pear.laurent-laville.org/HTML/Progress/
BUT REMEMBER, i need to make again some tests before a public release,
and also write a cool tutorial to explains all new API.
Laurent Laville
Hope you'll enjoy my work.
