Hi, all --
[I am not-so-new to php but very new to PEAR. So far it == CPAN in my
head, right or wrong, so please help me understand it as necessary as
well as perhaps :-) answer my questions.]
I have two FreeBSD (4.5-RELEASE, php 4.2.3 ; 4.8-RELEASE, php 4.3.3rc1)
servers which *look* like they have PEAR installed but have some problems
since I can't install HTTP_Request on either.
In looking at my phpinfo() output on the first server, I see that the CLI
was built with --disable-pear and no include_path, so I'll skip that one
for the moment. The other one looks fine, though.
bash-2.05a$ uname -rn
www.locationscout.com 4.8-RELEASE
bash-2.05a$ uname -rn
www.locationscout.com 4.8-RELEASE
bash-2.05a$ echo '<?php phpinfo(); ?>' | php -q | egrep -i
'config|pear|ini'
Configure Command => './configure' '--enable-versioning'
'--enable-memory-limit' '--with-layout=GNU' '--with-zlib-dir=/usr'
'--disable-all' '--with-regex=php' '--with-pear'
'--with-apxs=/usr/local/sbin/apxs' '--enable-ctype' '--enable-exif'
'--with-gd' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--enable-gd-jis-conv'
'--with-freetype-dir=/usr/local' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local'
'--with-png-dir=/usr/local' '--with-xpm-dir=/usr/local'
'--with-gettext=/usr/local' '--with-imap=/usr/local'
'--with-mcrypt=/usr/local' '--with-mysql=/usr/local'
'--enable-overload' '--with-pcre-regex=yes' '--enable-posix'
'--with-readline' '--enable-session' '--enable-tokenizer'
'--enable-xml' '--with-expat-dir=/usr/local' '--with-zlib=yes'
'--prefix=/usr/local' 'i386-portbld-freebsd4.8'
Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /usr/local/etc/php.ini
Configuration
include_path => .:/usr/local/share/pear => .:/usr/local/share/pear
bash-2.05a$ ls -aF /usr/local/lib/php /usr/local/share/pear/
/usr/local/lib/php:
./ Archive/ HTTP/ PEAR/ docs/
../ Console/ Mail/ XML/ tests/
.registry/ DB/ Net/ build/
20020429/ File/ OS/ data/
/usr/local/share/pear/:
./ .filemap .registry/
../ .lock bootstrap/
[Please work around the line breaks; they probably make everything easier
to read anyway.]
The HTTP and XML are there because I tried to use pear to install the
HTTP_Request and HTTP_Client, but here's what I get:
bash-2.05a$ sudo pear install HTTP_Request HTTP_Client
downloading HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz ...
Starting to download HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz (11,856 bytes)
.....done: 11,856 bytes
For this remote PEAR operation you need to install the XML_RPC package
OK, so I tried to install XML_RPC both with them and separately:
bash-2.05a$ sudo pear install HTTP_Request HTTP_Client XML_RPC
downloading HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz ...
Starting to download HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz (11,856 bytes)
.....done: 11,856 bytes
For this remote PEAR operation you need to install the XML_RPC package
bash-2.05a$ sudo pear install XML_RPC HTTP_Request HTTP_Client
downloading XML_RPC-1.0.4.tgz ...
Starting to download XML_RPC-1.0.4.tgz (11,991 bytes)
.....done: 11,991 bytes
downloading HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz ...
Starting to download HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz (11,856 bytes)
...done: 11,856 bytes
For this remote PEAR operation you need to install the XML_RPC package
bash-2.05a$ sudo pear install XML_RPC
downloading XML_RPC-1.0.4.tgz ...
Starting to download XML_RPC-1.0.4.tgz (11,991 bytes)
.....done: 11,991 bytes
install ok: XML_RPC 1.0.4
It *looks* like I've successfully installed XML_RPC, but it didn't work
yesterday; I got the same "you need XML_RPC" error, but today I don't.
Hmmm... An ls now shows XML in the /usr/local/share/pear dir, too!
So now I try to install HTTP_Request and HTTP_Client again and get
bash-2.05a$ sudo pear install HTTP_Request HTTP_Client
downloading HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz ...
Starting to download HTTP_Request-1.2.tgz (11,856 bytes)
.....done: 11,856 bytes
Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in
/usr/local/share/pear/bootstrap/PEAR/Common.php on line 1859
and now I'm good and stuck again.
Can anyone give me any clues for where to go next?
TIA & HAND
:-D
