Thanks for that I tried to make it easy to understand. I've also slightly modified the top if statement for the setValue patch from my last email:
From
if ($this->_options['addEmptyOption'] && !$value) {...
To:
if ($value == $this->_options['emptyOptionValue'] && $this->_options['addEmptyOption']) {...
Just in case someone wants to have an emptyOptionValue other than null.
The bug report is filed :)
