Hello ! As I'm really concerned in the QA of PEAR, I'm happy to join the list. Helgi suggested it to me last week, but: so far I could experience it, I need to subscribe if I want to post. ( see http://news.php.net/php.pear.webmaster/3443 ) I'm actually concerned in the test area, more how to encode and do again tests (unit and integration). In this extend I appreciate the "pear run-tests" and unit package. A common complaint is no test exists. But the developers DO tests. Just, it's done on the fly, loosing the very commands and environment to do that. Indeed, .phpt files or PHPunit scripts enable to register enhanced tests. That needs a whole scripting again from the developers and they are often upset when it comes on proof (and again) everything really ok. I agree, a good way should be write the tests first. A way I would like to discuss is having the stuff LEARN the test just as the developers are testing and let them say afterwards: "ok, these and these tests where meaningfull, let transform them in a registered format as .phpt or PHPunit" Regards. bertrand Gugger (toggg)
