Hello, Today you have release a version of Net_POP3 and Net_Sieve. Such releases cannot have a beta state because they are following a stable version. The code that can be found on PHP cvs has not been modified in a long time so I am curious about those releases changes. Are you using a different CVS ?
Err ... am I misunderstanding the situation here? of course you can make a non stable release after you have made a stable release. if you are unsure if certain changes (like performance tweaks) will not reduce the stability it makes absolute sense to release a package with a less stan stable state after making a stable release. more importantly i am not aware of any regulation that states otherwise.
right, but 1.0.2 and 1.3.4 have to be stable. 1.2.0RC1 can be beta. z in x.y.z is only for stable bugfixes, unless z == 0 and there is a postfix.
anyways .. can anyone point me to a document that stated this? i was just looking at the version naming announcement and i dont see anything there (would have surprised me since i wrote the announcement). i didnt even see anything that could possibly be interpreted as such. well maybe the example, since it doesnt list a beta release for a patch level increase. but its an example and not a full presentation of the standard! regards, Lukas
