As long as it's documented somewhere reasonably clearly, I'm not sure
how much confusion could happen.
-> developers may occasionally release with the wrong numbering, (which
happens now, even though we explicitly said no 1.0.0 beta releases..)
-> end users obviously dont care (AFAIK as there have never been any
questions on pear-general about it)
BTW does anyone know what state a RC release is supposed to be??
