FYI: A few months ago I made a bunch of progress porting the latest version of CPAN's WriteExcel* from Perl to PHP 5 with exceptions, etc. I've composed the structure in a way to provide a base Spreadsheet_Write class, so the same API can be used to output various spreadsheet formats. I've completed a class that outputs stuff in FromXML format, which is another CPAN package that takes XML and turns it into Excel format. This was quicker for us at work than finishing the full Excel8 writer stuff. I'm quite proud of it, but work hasn't provided me the time to finish it. Seems like it would be a good idea to put the current stuff into cvs.php.net so others can pick it up. What do you think?

Code is always a good start :) Can you link to it ? As helgi said figuring out where to import first makes sense (since we do not have svn ;) Arnaud.
