Dear PEAR QA guys,
As per the Chapter 16 manual instructions, I am sending this email to the Quality Assurance list to offer my services in the further development and maintenance of the Text_Figlet package.
I propose to update the existing code from its present PHP4 state up to PHP5.2.x conformance as my initial contribution. Debugging, cleanup, and additions would thereafter be addressed as needed.

# Web: http://mijamedia.com/# Twitter: http://twitter.com/spiderbyte # My name is David Christian Liedle. I have been a professional New Media Developer since 1998, with PHP as my primary middleware language since version 3. I have successfully developed and deployed websites and other software in PHP3, PHP4, and PHP5, and am proficient in converting between existing implementations of each version. I write clean, solid code with ample, self-documenting comments throughout, and adhere to best practices where appropriate. ;] I love figlet, and use it frequently to generate ASCII-art banners and such for insertion into almost all monospaced documents that I author. I'd love to pitch in and lend a hand on Evgeny's efforts to support figlet in PHP. I am a responsible team player, and consistently prove myself trustworthy with all account access granted to me throughout my various involvements in the Open Source community. I am also the author and lead developer of several projects of my own, giving me valuable perspective on what it is that the PHP community wants. At a mere 476 lines, the current Text_Figlet package will be simple to update and maintain. I would be honored if you would extend me the trust and opportunity to do so. Let's grow! David:.
