Of course, you mean http://pecl.php.net/get/id3
I tried another package and it worked fine.
http://pear.php.net/get/tidy
> I'm using the latest stable PEAR version (1.3.1).
I'm using the same version. Here are my results...
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install id3
No release with state equal to: 'stable' found for 'id3'
Okay, that's expected, since the package is alpha.
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install id3-0.1
File http://pear.php.net:80/get/id3-0.1 not
valid
(received: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found)
Hmmm...
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install id3-0.1.tgz
Invalid postfix '-0.1.tgz', be sure to pass a valid PEAR version
number or release state
THAT was interesting.
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install -f id3
Warning: id3 is state 'alpha' which is less stable than state
'stable'
Package id3 has no releases
Now, what's THAT about???
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install http://pecl.php.net/get/id3
downloading id3-0.1.tgz ...
Starting to download id3-0.1.tgz (7,135 bytes)
....done: 7,135 bytes
4 source files, building
The DSP id3.dsp does not exist.
C:\PROGRA~1\pear>pear install tidy
downloading tidy-1.1.tgz ...
Starting to download tidy-1.1.tgz (9,128 bytes)
....done: 9,128 bytes
3 source files, building
The DSP tidy.dsp does not exist.
Uh??? Is that an issue of the installer not looking in the right place?
So, it looks like there are a bunch of issues involved. The main problem
with things working is the state being alpha. Another, smaller issue
could be that the version number doesn't have three digits and or the name
has a number in it. Another piece could be that you're accessing a PECL
extension via the PEAR website. Then, combining all of these things
together and BLAM.
Now, exactly what's the issue in the "get" script on pearweb vs peclweb,
someone will have to take a look.
