Hi Pierre-Alain Joye!
On 06/18/05 11:34 you wrote:
To get a better view on trackbacks made to PEAR packages I want to add my Emailadress as BCC to all new trackback notifications so I can see, when a spam trackback arrives and react on that.
Is that ok for you?
It is not, just leave the maintainers take care of them or not. If they do not care, the unvalidated trackbacks will be purged.
Only maintainers could accept or reject a trackback.
You already valid a bit too much trackbacks non related to any of your packages.
Pierre, I don't believe that you reall read below the words "add my email adress as BCC"... Your answer does not fit to my concern in any way. Maybe you should reconsider your words while reading the following line again:
so I can see, when a spam trackback arrives and react on that.
You did not before, you even accepted empty trackbacks the past weeks.
So I repeat again, to be sure, let the maintainers do their jobs, I doubt you will do a good human antispam or if you will use "your" antispam system is not really valid, as my ISP dynapic IPs are blocked.I assume you got me wrong again. The sense behind receiving a notice on incoming trackbacks is to improve my anti-spam system. Currently I have to check the trackback overview page frequently to see incoming spam and react on that with improving the spam stuff overall. Beside that. The blocking of your dynamic IP was done by my weblog, which relies on 3rd party software, namly Serendipity. There is none of my spam-checking code inside. Even more, asuming dynamic IP adresses as trackback spam is perfectly valid, because trackbacks are send from websites, which usually reside on a webserver that has a static IP. I now very very few official webservers which have a dynamic IP adress.
In short, do nothing related to that.Ah, of course this sounds again like "don't do anything on PEARWeb, I'll fix your crap" or "don't commit to PEARWeb, I'll have PEARWeb2 ready in short" or similar. Sorry, Pierre, I never noticed any changes on those statements from you. I'll go on working on my stuff, as you can do on yours. Even if I'm not permitted to add the BCC entry to the trackback notifications, I can write a script parsing the trackback overview page to be informed when new trackbacks arrive.
