Hi Myron,
It's a trick question - if you need an account, you should select none
of the purposes listed there. To break it down:
1 Learn about PEAR.
you can learn about PEAR by reading the mailing lists and the manual
2 Use PEAR.
you can install PEAR packages by, well, installing them. No need for an
account
3 Download PEAR Packages.
ditto
4 Submit patches/bugs.
This can also be done without an account, just open a bug at our bug
tracker http://pear.php.net/bugs
5 Suggest new features.
ditto
6 Have an idea for a PEAR Package (no code yet, or not yet complete)
This one is poorly worded, and should be re-phrased - if you have an
idea, but no code, then write the code, or post the idea to pear-dev
7 Browse pear.php.net.
just need a web browser for this one.
So in short, if you want to propose a package, leave all the checkboxes
blank.
Thanks,
Greg
