Advantages: makes good use of the new features of php4, standard, included
right with php.
Disadvantages: requires php4 (i'm perfectly fine with this, though; I've
already moved all my -dev code to php4), is not widely used yet.
Performance: no idea, sorry.
Plus, I have a personal bias against using stuff from phplib. I've used it
before, and when you're working on stuff for your own site, it's great. But
most of the code I write is applications intended to be installed by other
people, and right now one version uses phplib for session stuff, and that
has caused more questions than probably everything else combined on the
mailing lists. It's just too much of a pain to install and get working, so I
decided that I'm going to either use standard (ie, PEAR) packages, or my own.
