I think this would be better, otherwise it'll get real confusing with Mail
and Mailer being on the same level. Still imagine writing a program:
<?php
include_once 'Mail/Mailer/Sendmail.php';
$mh = Mail_Mailer_Sendmail::connect ("servername");
?>
Any more levels and it'll get real ugly.
Another option if you want a common API why not name it Sender.php, then
place it in Mail:
<?php
include_once 'Mail/Sender.php';
$mh = new Mail_Sender();
?>
Also I don't see the reason for any class besides Mail/SMTP for sending
e-mail, most Mail servers (placing foot in mouth) are SMTP anyway right?
Why interface with Sendmail? What other protocols are commonly used for
sending e-mail (Perl, as far as I know, only supports Mail::Sendmail, which
uses SMTP).

I tend to agree with that sentiment. =)

Aggghhhh!
I agree Message belongs in Mail but then again can you imagine:
<?php
include_once 'Mail/Message/MIME.php";
$mh = new Mail_Message_MIME();
?>
Not the most elegant solution, just one too many levels.
I'd say Message is a clearly defined subject and deserves a top level
directory.

Agreed, MIME/viewer could call MIME/application/msword, but the advertised
class would be MIME/Viewer (Sort of like what is done with the Mail::Tools
package in Perl).
