For the benefit of anyone new to PEAR who wants to quickly test out the db
abstraction class (using MySQL) you can follow these steps:
1. Copy the pear directory into your webspace (e.g., http://localhost/pear).
2. Go to the root of your pear directory .
3. Rename PEAR.php.in to PEAR.php
4. Copy all of the files in DB/tests/mysql/ to the pear root directory.
5. Rename all files with .phpt extension to .php or reconfigure Apache to
have php parse files with this extension.
6. Remove all commenting from .phpt files.
7. Point your browser at 001.php and 002.php and see if they produce the
expected results. (e.g., http://localhost/pear/001.php).
This was tested on Windows ME, running latest Apache, PHP, and MySQL
installations for that platform.
