Hello
I would like to announce the release of a PHP wrapper for the Berkeley DB
XML library. This is a library which applications (e.g. PHP) can link to.
It is embedded, in the way SQLite is.
The database library provides the ability to store, query, retrieve,
update, delete and index XML documents. It is faster and simpler than
storing XML documents in plain files in the filesystem, and has the
security of Berkeley DB transactions.
There is more information at http://swithun.servebeer.com/
The source is released under the PHP 3.0 license. I have tested it with
PHP5 on Linux, but I believe it should work with PHP4. Both an OO
interface (PHP5 only) and a procedural one are provided.
The dependencies of this extension are those of Berkeley DB XML (Berkeley
DB, Xerces-C and Pathan). See http://www.sleepycat.com/xmldocs/ for how to
build Berkeley DB XML.
I would like to thank Wez Furlong, Jay Smith and people at Sleepycat for
getting me this far.
I suppose the next step, after getting any initial feedback (gratefully
received) , would be to ask whether this extension could be hosted at
PECL. Is this correct?
Thanks.
Swithun.
