Late last year, we at Wikimedia developed and deployed a new PHP
extension called Excimer. It provides a sampling profiler and a
generic interrupting timer.
It's working for us just fine, so I thought it was about time to share
it. I'd like to propose it for inclusion in PECL.
Details are at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Excimer
Once it's in PECL, we'll write a docbook chapter for it and publish it
to the PHP manual.
