Hi,
I missed your previous email Sure it is possible. I did not work on it much since I have not received much feedback. It works fine for me in CLI, but it is too slow for use in web environment. The main reason is that colorer is very slow when loading highlighting rules from XML. I am playing with rules preloading during module startup, but yet cannot make it work stable under apache.
We plan to utilize it with caching, so it will not need to highlight on every page load. Currently we write a source tempfile, do an exec() and read the result tempfile, so that is a lot more slower then having the extension in PHP. We would like to replace this ugly beast with using the extension instead. And it would become manageable for us, if it becomes part of PECL - and then it would also mean a lot of possibilities for this nice extension.
Well, I would I add it to PECL if I receive Wez's approval
I am sure you will get it. *hint* Goba
