xmlReader and commiting stuff

Now that xmlReader is being included with 5.1, how do I go about making changes? I have no idea how pecl and php-src interact here.
Can any changes just be made to either pecl or php-src or does it need to be made in both. Which also brings up a question of what do I need to do if any changes are different between the two?
