O.K., the newer nmake definitely made a difference. I'm geting close. I have
the object files already compiled and the problem is with link.exe now. I
suspect the mix of new and old library versions may be the problem. My
recent notes:
* Changed nmake from 1.5 to 6.0.8168.0 and got past the first problems.
* The --disable-zts flag was giving compilation errors in
php_win32_globals.h. After removing the flag I could compile the object
files.
* Got errors RC2144, 2135, 2164 in template.rc. That was easy. I just
commented out everything. I assume this is harmless.
* FYI, I got quite a few warning messages during compilation (things like
"conversion of double to int", "benign redefinition", "signed/unsigned
mismatch" and others).
* Some missing libraries and executables brought from outside MSVCToolkit /
WinSDK: bison.exe, flex.exe, resolve.lib and msvcrt.lib. are pretty old
(1998-2000).
* Unresolved external symbols: __ftol2, __alldvrm, __pctype and
___mb_cur_max. I googled for __ftol2 and I found it to be related to
different MSVC versions and msvcrt.lib which is not included in the WinSDK.
(Why?). I manually added /QIfist to CFLAGS, recompiled everything and it
seems that __ftol2 was solved, but the other three are still pending.
I promise to write a mini-tutorial if I can make this work :)
Thanks in advance.
