PDO param binding question

Hi there!
I just wanted to know the best way to bind floating-point/real numbers
to a PDO prepared statement? If i use PDO_PARAM_INT will it convert to
an int? Should i explicitly cast the php var to a float and specify no
binding data type?
Thanks (i am not sure if this is the best place to ask, so tell to go
away if necessary).
