I thought we had an attribute that allows you to specify the name of the statement, but I don't see it right now. I have no problem with adding such an attribute to allow the user to select the name we use for prepares. From what I've seen on my brief google around, we'd just need to allow setting the name to the empty string.
Yeah I think thats it.
Actually some additional care might need to be taken to prevent subsequent execute() calls, or to handle concurrent statements in case the prepared statement name is empty: "An unnamed prepared statement lasts only until the next Parse statement specifying the unnamed statement as destination is issued. (Note that a simple Query message also destroys the unnamed statement.) Named prepared statements must be explicitly closed before they can be redefined by a Parse message, but this is not required for the unnamed statement." regards, Lukas
