It should work for any version of the mysql libraries that are source code compatible with mysql 3 and 4 client libraries.I think i follow that. I believe the question is more, can mysql5.0 be used as the client. iirc, there are server abilities detected based on the client/server abilities. And besides that issue, would a 5.0 client work well with a 5.0 server with the current implentaion? Right now the docs just say it supports 3.x/4.x would there be harm to include in that list 5.0? from my tests. a prepare() and exec() of mysql5.0 procedure and/or a view is works ok, which would be the only issue i see at hand if anything went wrong.
