Hey Daniel,
it should be as easy as:
"pear install sqlite"
You don't even need to download it; the pear command line tool
will fetch the latest version for you.
Once installed, you need to add sqlite.so to your php.ini.

Subject: [PECL-DEV] compiling sqlite
I have been trying to compile the sqlite.so extenstion to run under PHP. I
can download compile and install sqlite from the sqlite.com site. I have
also downloaded the SQLite 1.0.2 from the pecl.php.net site. In the README
this mentions that it was prepared using version 2.9.11, but the latest
source I can get from the sqlite.com site is 2.8.13.
I'm still a bit new to all of this, but here is what I have done:
download sqlite from sqlite.com
download SQLite from pecl.php.net
unpack into their own folders
[user]$ tar xzvf SQLite-1.0.2.tgz
[user]$ tar xzvf sqlite-2.8.13.tar.gz
now copy contents from SQLite-1.0.2/libsqlite/src/ into sqlite/src (I
THINK THIS IS WHAT THE README TELLS ME TO DO)
[user]$ cp SQLite-1.0.2/libsqlite/src/* sqlite/src/
make a directory for the build
[user]$ mkdir bld_sqlite
[user]$ cd bld_sqlite/
from within that new directory run configure script
[user]$ ../sqlite/configure
now make
[user]$ make
now this is the tricky part, the .so and related lib files are in a hidden
directory, .lib
as root issue the install command
[user]$ make install
this builds sqlite and the lib files which get installed into the
/usr/local/lib directory. When I try to load this .so file in PHP it
complains that it is not a valid extension.
I have done various searches on google trying to find a tutorial. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
