I've built a local instance of php 53-cvs,
which php
/home/pg/bin/php
php --version
PHP 5.3.0alpha4-dev (cli) (built: Dec 9 2008 07:06:10)

Building pecl 'ncurses' (http://pecl.php.net/package/ncurses
) extension fails at 'make',
cd $HOME/tmp/ncurses-1.0.0
phpize --clean && phpize
./configure --with-ncurses=$HOME
make
...

certainly looks the culprit, but I have no idea what that stanza does,
or what do do about it.
Suggestions?
Thanks.
