Hi all, I've been working on a new memcached extension based on the libmemcached library, and I want to proposed it for inclusion in PECL. I realize that there is already pecl/memcache, but libmemcached is emerging as the standard memcached client library. It's used by Python, Ruby, etc and it provides a number of features that are advantageous to developers. The extension is currently hosted on GitHub: http://github.com/andreiz/php-memcached/tree/master I named it "memcached" with the corresponding class called "Memcached". Now, this may be close to the current PECL one, but calling it "libmemcached" and "Libmemcached" doesn't seem right. I haven't written the docs yet, but it's my next step. -Andrei
+1 The work done by Antony and Mikael has been very good. But, as you said, the work started by Brian Aker is very good. This would allow the PECL work to be reserved to compatibility with the library and leave the memcached logic parts to libmemcached which will be updated over time naturally. Now, if I can just find the time to start on pecl extension that wraps libgearman. -- Brian Moon Senior Web Engineer ------------------------------ When you care enough to spend the very least. http://dealnews.com/
