Hi Antony, good to hear to have an alternative to the php-api shipped with sphinx. Do you have any idea on whether this is faster than the php-api? And if it is, how much faster it is? Are there other advantages?I will be testing this very soon to see if it helps with large data sets. The PHP api will hit a memory limit of 256MB when reading in the stream from the server for large data sets. These are >1k and < 10k size data sets. 10k ints and some stats seems like not a lot to me. I am hoping that this one will not have this problem. As for speed. Doing binary packing and unpacking and stream reading should be faster in C than PHP. The PHP code runs C code underneath after all. Sphinx is damn fast already. So, I am not sure that .5 seconds vs. .32 seconds is really a huge win. I have dropped the previous release in to my dev server and it was 100% compatible with what I needed with the exception of bug #14752 which this version fixes. -- Brian Moon Senior Web Engineer ------------------------------ When you care enough to spend the very least. http://dealnews.com/
