Please let me know if this module is suitable for inclusion in PECL.

Looks like a nice API. And granted it's easy for me to say... I'd be in favor of it replacing the current but some thoughts:
- See what Scott has to say. He's the active maintainer and essentially took over to close bugs but since then has taken over more and more things in the php.net world (busy)
- Go over current (and closed) pecl/svn bugs and be sure they don't exist in yours:

- Ensure all features in current pecl/svn are covered
- Promise to write documentation... :)
Not sure if maintaining both APIs is worth it, I would say no. But maybe someone will create a wrapper so the current API would still work.
