Hello all,
There are pecl extensions that people should not install, like filter and sqlite, so how might we disable them from installing via the pecl command? I don't think a note on the webpage is enough.
Or in the very least add a clear message here that also refers to the alternative. And whether this takes into account the local PHP version I don't know. A simple version of the idea:
$ pecl install filter
Failed: This deprecated PECL extension should not be used
Alternative: php-src/filter
Reason: Moved to core
Maybe allow:
$ pecl install filter --force-i-really-really-mean-it
Regards,
Philip
