hello i wrote a php memcache extension that solely supports udp with
performance in mind because i am aware that this something that many people
want and none of the public php extensions actually correctly support udp at
all. it is called ezmemcache and its available at
http://www.modron.net/~dina/ezmemcache/ and i
would like to contribute it to
PECL. i opted to write a client dedicated to performance instead of
expanding upon and contributing to memcache 3.0 series due to its poor
performance (just generally slower than 2.2.x and currently quite buggy and
simply doesnt handle UDP properly in any way) and its focus on features,
although in the future i forsee the 3.0 branch being very robust and nice
for people who want a lot of stuff, i dont plan on taking my project in that
direction. i want to stay lean and purely datagram based.
thank you,
dina m. lolich.
