Is it only for directly communicating with devices, or for existing videos?
The ffmpeg-php extension would really be useful if someone kept it
alive and got it into PECL. I definitely could use existing video
conversion, thumbnailing/frame grabbing, branding, and video info
functions in a supported extension for sure.
I would say this could be useful for me if it worked on video files.
For devices, not so much. However, I think any extension that
"extends" PHP's usability should be fine to land in PECL and AFAIK
there is nothing like this yet. There are some with duplicated
features already, this one is unique. No reason not to. :)
If you're really good at multimedia development, you should look at
getting php-ffmpeg beefed up too and into PECL. That'd be pretty
popular I think :)
