Interestingly the bitset category seems to miss in the bug tracker, the
bug is categorized as "General issue" that's why I didn't see it before
responding.
About the bug itself: Actually I did that change in SVN two years ago
already: http://svn.php.net/viewvc?view=revision&revision=297236
Just needs a release. If I don't hear objections from anybody I can
probably package a release over the weekend.
If you think further maintenance or such is needed you could of course
also take it over. I've also sent a mail to Alexander on a more up to
date address.
