How hard would it be to make a mysql or mysqli handler.. The problem I am having, I have a mysql session library that stores the serialized data in the db. However it suffers performance issues in larger sessions due to having to write the full data-set to the db instead of just what has changed.. If the session serialize handler could use mysql/mysqli ( or any other storage method even like msessions ), Then you could compare the current dataset to the updated dataset and write only those values/rows that have changed instead of rewriting the entire dataset. Matter fact, I would thing a method like this would work in any case even files/php method. Instead of serializing and writing, write in a format that would allow you to change only parts of the data at once, On a active website where session data might change often I would think this would increase performance compared to the current serialize method. hi.. i just "announced" my binary serialize/unserialize extension on internals@lists.php.net. They told me to apply and commit it to pecl first, to see if its worth to add into ext/standard and ext/session... Some informations about and benchmarks on this extension can be found at:

it would be great if i could get any feedback on it... thanx... Bernd Roemer
