Subject: Windows Installer EXE for PHP instead of ZIP

Thanks Otto and Daniel for your replies.
The EXE installer is not really meant for experts like you, but more for
people like me 3 months ago when I was just starting with PHP. The idea is
to get more people to try out PHP, particularly people from a Windows
background who prefer using an installer to a zip file with instructions.
I also realise that installing for Apache is more complicated than for IIS
or PWS, so maybe I'll wait before I try creating an Apache installer as I
am not experienced in configuring Apache. I'm much better with IIS as I
give IIS training to Webmasters at a local college.
I also agree that the zip file option should also exist, as I have
experienced Web hosting providers who want to know what files are installed
in their servers, and would not allow any customer to run an EXE installer
on their server.
The overhead for the WISE installer is only about 100K.
Maybe you can forward this email to phil driscol and I can get some
feedback from him.
