[snip] I agree that it should be hosted on one of the PHP project machines. I take it that this means that you are offering space Sascha?Thank you Sascha! That sounds like the fastest solution to me - anyone else have any thoughts on this? How about qa.php.net?Sure. If you want, we can use the same procedure as we have been using for the other *.php.net websites. That means:* everything is stored in CVS * changes to the CVS are reflected within a couple of minutes * fast machines, fat pipesJust let me know what you need and we'll set it up (like CVS accounts, virtualhosts).
In addition, the domain name should be owned by the PHP Development Team.
The PHP Association is the legal entity. Thanks to Shawn for
the original offer.
What do you think Shawn? The original offer was very kind - however, I think that there are some serious advantages to branching off of the php.net domain name.
- Simplicity: None of us needs to worry about administrating anything beyond the PHP/QAT website. This should eliminate possible problems when key members (read - those who carry the bulk of site/server/domain administration) are short on time or need to move on.
- Credibility: As far as user perception goes, we will be more credible as part of the php.net domain
- Economy: Using systems that are already established should save us time.
