I run test scripts as follows for both 4.0.5RC1 and 4.0.5RC6
$ make distclean
$ ./configure
$ cp php.ini-optimized php.ini
$ make test
RC6 fails basic tests while RC1 does not. There is post that getting similar
test result under Windows, but this system is Linux (RedHat 7.0.1/J Intel,
glibc2.2, gcc-2.96) Other UN*X users seems to have no problem with RC6, do you?
I also take a look at diff of test scripts between RC1 and RC6. I don't see
changes in test scripts, but test results.
People may find problem in 4.0.5 under environment similar to mine. I would like
to know if I'm the only one who get this result with RC6 under Linux.
Tests that are failed in RC6, but not in RC1.

For some reason, 4.0.4pl1 fails to pass some simple tests. Even if 4.0.4pl1
works well mostly. (I got sevral very strange PHP behavior under very limited
condition, though)
As far as test scripts concerned, it seems 4.0.5RC1 was error free for my
environment.
If you need me to send *.out file or anything, please let me know.
BTW, Changing locale did not change test results last time I've tested. Many
PEAR tests fails even if include_path is defined for PEAR.
I also would like to see test scripts for multi-byte char code (UTF8, EUC-JP,
SJIS, JIS, possibly EUC-KR, EUC-TW, etc with help of others) for PHP
distribution. Is someone working for it already? If no one is going to make it,
I'll do it for 4.0.6 and up coming multi-byte char code support module.
Regards,
