I usually build every (free, at least) php extension I can, although I can't say I've actually *used* them. My typical php build consists of: Latest apache (1.3.19) Latest (stable) PHP as an apache module, and as a cgi/shell interpreter. I strip these two down to a bare minimum and compile the 'extras' as shared objects, and dl() them as needed. Modules I build (in order of greatest usage): dba (berkeley db3), zlib, bzip2, curl, pcre, ftp, sockets, pgsql, mysql, xml, domxml, wddx, posix, gd, bcmath, imap, pspell, zzip, readline, shmop, sysvshm, sysvsem, gmp, gettext, and everything else that is 'bundled'. Like I said, basically everything that is free. ;) I tend to keep this box as up-to-date as possible.. it's currently based on glibc 2.2.3 and gcc 2.95.3. I know enough C to either 1) fix something that's broken, or 2) break it even worse. I'm better at fixing compile time issues (have to be to use most of the latest GNU software ;). Anything else you need to know? BTW.. I noticed the is_link() bug report for php3. Andi very graciously fixed this for me in php4-cvs, and I backported his changes to php3. The patch I made against it fixes it for me, but it should probably get a good staring from a real developer. ;) Jeremy
