RC2: trouble with stripped zlib on NetBSD, trouble with IMAP (SSL required ?), many compiler warnings on NetBSD

Hi, Here's the machine setup: NetBSD 1.5 x86 egcs 2.91.66 - If I configure PHP with a stripped libz.a ('strip libz.a'), the configure process stops at the zlib step with the following error: (I also recompiled zlib 1.1.3 from scratch with the same compiler, linker, etc.) checking for gzgets in -lz... no configure: error: ZLIB extension requires zlib >= 1.0.9 from config.log: configure:9308: checking for gzgets in -lz configure:9327: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -I/usr/pkg/include -L/usr/pkg/lib -R/u/guest/www/mbin/emer i/i386-NetBSD/lib -L/u/guest/www/mbin/emeri/i386-NetBSD/lib onftest.c -lz -lcrypt -lresolv -lm -lresolv -lcrypt 1>&5 /tmp/cc6sjmCn.o: In function `main': /u/guest/www/tar/php-4.0.7RC2/configure:9323: undefined reference to `gzgets' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status This problem disappears as soon as I keep an unstripped libz.a, then the configure script works fine. There's the same problem with the mcrypt library (failure with stripped library). The rest of the bug report is done with unstripped libs. - The other problem comes from IMAP, I've always been building PHP since 4.0 beta2 with the same configure line (see at bottom). But 4.0.7RC2 still fails with configuring IMAP. It can be bypassed by specifying --with-imap-ssl (with no argument), but the final linkage step (fater compiling) fails because it doesn't find any librardy names libssl.a.
