I'd love to test the LDAP, but I haven't got a server at hand :-/
Anything else I should pay attention to? The extensions I normally use
are working ok.
I suspect more testers could test more features if LDAP/IMAP/POP/XXX servers with known content and corresponding "make test" suites were available...
Obviously, this is a fair amount of effort to set up, but if somebody *ALREADY* using/doing these kinds of tests were to do that, and then somehow make these servers available to the public (or attempting to limit it to the QA team somehow to reduce risk)...
Presumably these servers could somehow magically be set up to wipe data back to 0 every hour, or give each new user an identically-initialized account to test with or something automated like that...
This is particularly true of lesser-used tech like LDAP, as opposed to, say, MySQL which I think just about everybody has somewhere...
I throw this out as an idea to consider, knowing full well that *I* don't have the know-how, resources, nor time to contribute anything useful along these lines: I'm using PHP so I can mostly *ignore* OS issues. But somebody else might be able to and not have already though of it, right? :-)
If, like the LDAP server Stig just posted, there are other public resources, perhaps the test suites could be made to use them, and/or they could be documented for the QA Team somewhere more visible/permanent for new testers than email archives...
