Hello, name is Cameron Bahan. After you appearance on the MacSlash website with the announcement of your QA needs for Mac OS and Mac OS X testers I imagine that you are being pounded with applications. So like many others I imagine, I would like to take this opportunity
to introduce myself.
Growing up in the digital age I have been around computers most of my life. However, prior to 1995 it was basically just for entertainment and school projects and papers. It was not until that first year of University that I saw potential for myself in the tech world. Having a heavy preference to the Mac platform prior, I worked my way through a obtaining a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Software Engineering. Being around during the whole web explosion was exciting, though after minor tinkering in the web development field I passed it on for application development in Java and C++.
Following university I took a job in Seattle, WA developing on the linux platform. While keeping strong routes to the Mac it eventually became one of our main development platforms (thanks to Mac OS X). However, we like many others were part of the whole market downturn which saw me return to Vancouver, BC. Since then I have been mostly tinkering with my own projects including a cross-platform web balancing solution in C++. However, I have just taken a contract position that is requiring me to again be more web-centric. This along with web-application development that can be done in ASP, PHP, and Perl has me again interested in web world. Seeing your request allows me to contribute back to the industry while continuing to learn.
I have a LinuxPPC machine as well as a Mac OS X box running (like I am sure everyone is) 10.1.3. In the next few days I should also be able to get my old PPro running Win 98 and RH 7.2 once more. Unfortunately these machine are being used for other development projects so any testing will have to be done on the machines "as is".
As a strong developer in C++, and Java [ not to mention the many other languages I have picked up over the years ] I look forward assisting in any way I can. I also look forward to sharing information with you all on this and other PHP based lists that I end up subscribing to in hunting for knowledge.
