'problems' => 'Sorry if I have not provided enough information but this is my
first time trying to install PHP. I am using SuSE Linux Kernel is 2.4.16 I686.
Apache version 2.035.
First attempt was to of build in accordance with the INSTALL file instructions (DSO):
./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs
make
make install
When attempting to start apache get:
Syntax error on line 1061 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so: undefined symbol:
ap_block_alarms
../bin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started
I then noticed on your web site that DSO does not work even thou the instructions indicated it did,
so I tried the static approach again according to the INSTALL file:
./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../httpd-2.0.35
This fails to build with the following error:
Configuring SAPI modules
checking for AOLserver support... no
checking for Apache 1.x module support via DSO through APXS... no
checking for Apache 1.x module support... configure: error: --with-apache does not work with Apache
2.x!
It would therefore seem not possible to have PHP-4.2.ORC4 compiled and working with apache-2.0.35.
I hope that I have either missed something in the documentation, or it is wrong, but I very much
would like this environment for my current project I am working on.
Look forward to your feedback as soon as possible
Regards,
Adam Reeves.
