Well, it is great that you understand it 100% but you have to realize you
are basically a second-class citizen when it comes to support from the
open source community. We try to do our best for Windows users, but most
of our resources and most of the people who volunteer their time and
effort are UNIX-oriented folks. So by sheer numbers of eyes looking at
problems and sitting down and fixing them, the UNIX version of PHP is
likely always to be fixed quicker, more stable and more reliable.
The price you pay for the pointy-clickety feel-good experience you have
with your Windows box...
If more really experienced Windows developers would volunteer their time
to help out, that could change. We don't actively try to make the Windows
version less stable.
