Hi,
I couldn't immediately see the usefulness of this. Maybe you can spend a
few minutes explaining the target audience, and what problem you are
solving?
As stated in http://qa.php.net/howtohelp.php, it would be useful to run our test suite on regular schedule. This can only be done manually today, because there is no way to run 'make test' and send results automatically (need user intervention).
My goal is to permit users to do it with one command :
SEND_RESULTS=1 make test
When this will be possible, it will be easy to create a bash script (or an other language to have it on Windows platform as well), to build latest PHP source and send results automatically on regular basis.
With the qa.php.net/reports <http://qa.php.net/reports> interface, all results are now aggregated and we would have more reports sent by user. It will be easy to check source code regularly on exotic platform as well (need one account on remote machine,
install the script, add to crontab, and voilà).

At face value it seems to be adding yet-another-configuration-option-
similar-but-not-quite-the-same-as-what-we-have (tm).
Perhaps this is a time to be brave and rationalize the interaction
behavior of run-tests.php? By this I mean working out the current and
future scenarios, and simplifying its usage to cater for the future
scenarios without breaking too many of the old ones.
Off topic, one cool thing to do with run-tests.php would be to work
out how to test and/or use the new CLI web server.
