Hello,
By popular demand, I finally made time to release a plug-in filter for
my forms validation and generation class. This is a complete class for
generating server side and client side validating HTML forms.
This class always has been very popular (16,000+ users downloaded it)
since it was released almost 4 years ago, and so I always had plenty of
requests for composing forms with it using templates.
Since I used different methods to compose forms that are not really PHP
based I did not have a PHP solution. But finally I decided to make time
to provide a solution with Smarty that hopefully is the most template
engine.
The class comes with the plug-in, documentation and an example script
and a template. It is available in this page of the PHP Classes site but
I have attached it to this message so you do not need to go there to
download it. Because of the file limit of this list, I removed the documentation and other examples scripts unrelated with the Smarty plug-in. The complete version is available in the site.

The plug-in is a pre-filter that uses regular expressions to translate
tags for input fields and their labels to calls to the forms class that
are used to compose the form layout. I used PHP output buffers to
capture the data output that has to be added to the form composition by
the correct order.
I am not sure if this is the best method because I don't know if the use
of PHP output buffers interferes with the normal behaviour of Smarty
engine that I noticed that also uses PHP output buffers in some
circunstances.
