Well first I started writing php-soap over a year ago. I just put it off for a long time. Then recenlty started working on it again. Two php-soap in highly intergrated with php and the php api, using php-streams for transports, using php dom implemntation for some call back functions, using object overloading to make calling eaiser. The re-invention you are talking about is very minimal, probally just the wsdl parser. Even the encode/decode logic would need to be re-written because of the zval vs standard c types. Im not saying that that class libary couldn't be ported to be used as a ext/soap. But the ammount of wrapper code you would need to write would probally be similar in size. After all that there is a good posibility it would be slower(altho it could be faster too). Noones to say that someone can't wrap that existing libary and use it in php, but a majority of the code is already done. - brad --- Niklas Fondberg <niklas.fondberg@i3micro.com> wrote: > Why are php reinventing the wheel when there is a c library for it? > http://www.ximian.com/devzone/tech/soup.html > > taken from the package content in debians dselect: > -- > Soup is a SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) implementation in C. > . > It provides an queued asynchronous callback-based mechanism for sending and > servicing SOAP requests, and a WSDL (Web Service Definition Language) to C > compiler which generates client stubs and server skeletons for easily > calling > and implementing SOAP methods. > -- > > -- > Best Regards > > Niklas Fondberg - niklas.fondberg@i3micro.com > System Developer - I3 Micro Technology > > > -- > PHP Soap Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) > To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
