trouble w/ http headers

Finally got the time to put libxml2 (and libxslt) on my Solaris 8 machine, got php-soap to compile as a static module for PHP, but now I am getting the following: [Error during execution of script] Fatal error: Error Fetching http headers in /export/dredox1/devel_server/webtest/soap/phpsoap/client.php on line 5 The client code is: <?php $url = "http://redox.scripps.edu:7000/devel/soap/phpsoap/server.php"; $ns = "urn:test"; $o = new SoapObject($url, $ns); echo $o->hello(); ?> the server code is: <?php $server = new SoapServer("urn:test"); $server->addFunction('hello'); $server->handle(); function hello() { return "Hey dude!"; } ?> Looking at the code (and doing some simpleminded mangling), the problem happens in line 493 of soap/php_http.c which is called from the get_http_soap_response() function in soap/php_http.c called from the soap_call_function_handler() (I think) in soap/soap.c I am using: libxml 2.4.23 libxslt 1.0.19 PHP 4.0.3-dev, updated today, 09/12/02 at around 4pm php-soap from pear/PECL/soap, updated 09/12/02 at around 4pm Apache 1.3.26 My configure line was: './configure' '--prefix=/export/dredox1/devel_server/php' '--with-config-file-path=/export/dredox1/devel_server/php' '--enable-libgcc' '--disable-overload' '--enable-track-vars' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-inline-optimization' '--enable-xml' '--enable-soap' '--enable-trans-id' '--enable-aggregate' '--enable-pcntl' '--enable-cli' '--enable-wddx' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-calendar' '--enable-bcmath' '--with-zlib' '--with-dom=/usr/local/libxml/sparc' '--with-dom-xslt=/usr/local/libxslt/sparc' '--with-dom-exslt=/usr/local/libxslt/sparc' '--with-gd=/asd/metallo1/server/libs/gd-1.8.4' '--enable-freetype-4bit-antialias-hack' '--with-freetype-dir=/asd/metallo1/server/libs/freetype2' '--with-ttf=/asd/metallo1/server/libs/freetype2' '--with-jpeg-dir=/opt/sfw' '--with-png-dir=/opt/sfw' '--with-xpm-dir=/opt/sfw' '--with-ttf=/opt/sfw' '--with-mysql=/export/dredox1/devel_server/mysql' '--with-apxs=/export/dredox1/devel_server/apache/bin/apxs' And everything else seems to be working fine. BTW, adding a: header('Content-type: text/xml'); to the server code does not help, and doing a telnet to the server and using: GET /devel/soap/phpsoap/server.php HTTP/1.0 gives the expected SOAP Fault string and appropriate HTTP headers. ===== --- Jesus M.
