Those slides are also on talks.php.net, and are probably more up to date on talks.php.net. Are you familier with IDL for Corba or RPC? WSDL is just an IDL for web services. It describes the interface, the data types, etc. WSDL can be used to generate code that uses the interface which is what the proxy would be. Regards, Shane Chris Boget wrote:
Please take a look at the following: http://www.activestate.com/Corporate/Events/LectureSeries/SOAP_PHP.pdf in particular pages 22, 23 and 24. Page 22 details a 5 line web service call using WSDL. Pages 23 and 24 describe a call using the save service w/o WSDL but it's easily 15 lines long. What is the WSDL really doing for the programmer? And how is it acting as the "proxy" for the actual code that is the service? I think I'm on the cusp of understanding what this is/does but I just need someone to help push me over. Any help, insight or explanation would be greatly appreciated! thnx, Chris
