Can someone explain to me why the faultcode parameter is always "Client" - why can't the faultcode be used to convey extra error information in numerical form (like in PEAR_Error)? Tristan. That's the SOAP spec. There are only 4 allowed faultcodes (http://www.w3.org/TR/SOAP/#_Toc478383510). The faultcode is not for the application, but for the soap layer. The details and string are for application specific data. Shane
