Hello,
I am a user of most of the technologies the "board members" here represent,
though not anyone of great importance in the community except for some IRC
input here and there and running some medium-sized sites of my own.
I think the nature of this group is entirely appropriate, and commend its
formation. Discussion should be open so PHP developers themselves *can have
input*, but it would be irresponsible to allow everyone to vote. A vote in
this sphere should be delegated to those most competent and representative
and I believe the people here qualify. Sometimes people mistake merit for
pretence and suitability for arrogance.
In any case, my email to this group was to request that its purpose and
means be now left aside and progress made on the standards themselves. I
would like to see an outline of the topics this group would like to cover,
it may then be appropriate to take each of these points in turn and debate
them. If there are any materials (besides this list) available, would
someone please post links?
Perhaps the outline could have voting dates scheduled for each topic so that
there is a sense of when this process may yield a draft.
Michael
