Niall: Thanks for trying again. I followed the steps as per the install instructions and your note below when installing before. To be real rigorous and make sure I wasn't overlooking something I just now went through the steps again: I ran ./configure

              - for Apache (in the Apache directory)
ran ./configure  -- with-apache=../apache_1.3.11 --enable-track-vars   - for PHP4.b3 (in the PHP4.b3 directory)
I ran make               - for PHP4.b3
ran make install         - for PHP4.b3
ran ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a            - for Apache
I ran make                - and once again get the link errors
